For properties that process prepaid credit cards, please note the following process.
During Check-In
During the Check-in process, a Credit Card is authorized. If a guest inserts a Prepaid Credit Card during the Check-In process and an authorization is attempted, the following message will pop up in RoomKey. If "Yes" is selected, the guest will need to re-insert their Prepaid Card into the EMV device so that it may be charged. RoomKeyPMS will then send a "Charge" message to Fullsteam in order to Charge the Prepaid Credit Card.
The Prepaid Credit Card Payment will then appear on the Guest Folio once the guest has been checked-in.
A Reservation Note will then appear on the Reservation advising the Clerk that: "Card ending in XXXX was not saved on Reservation. Prepaid Credit Card was used or Interac was selected at time of posting."
When selecting "Post Payment"
When posting a Payment in RoomKey using "Post Payment", the process is to attempt to Authorize the card first and then Capture the authorization. Again, due to the fact that Prepaid Cards cannot be authorized, the following message will appear. If "Yes" is selected, the guest will need to re-insert their Prepaid Card into the EMV device so that it may be charged as a Prepaid Card Payment. RoomKeyPMS will then send a "Charge" message to Fullsteam in order to Charge the Prepaid Credit Card.
When the Transaction Approves an notification to the Clerk will advise that a Prepaid Credit Card was used and therefore the Card information will not be saved on the Reservation.
The Prepaid Card Payment will then appear on the Guest Folio.
And a Reservation Note will appear stating: Card ending in: XXXX was not saved on Reservation. Prepaid Credit Card was used or Interac was selected at time of posting.
