When making a new reservation, Overbooking Limits will automatically be included in the availability. Property managers will make the decision on which clerks will be able to see when they are making a booking within the Overbooking Limits (when physical inventory has already been booked):
Room Type Overbooking Limit
In the following example, there are four SQQ remaining => 1 physical room and 3 Overbooking Rooms. When a reservation is made for the last physical room, the inventory background color will change to indicate that the property is now within the OB Limits:
NOTE: The Clerk will not have to use Enable Overbook on the second reservation, the color change is just to indicate they are now in the OB Limit.
Once the physical inventory and OB Limit are used up on a Room Type, the Clerk will get the Overbooking Warning:
**Training Tip: for properties that set OB Limits, using the Enable Overbooking function should be used more sparingly**
Property Overbooking Limit
The system will take Property Limit as a priority over Room Limit; therefore once the Property Availability is at 0 (or a negative), the clerk would need to use the Enable Overbook function.
**Training Tip: for properties that set OB Limits, the Enable Overbooking function should be used more sparingly**
In the example below, the Property Availability is at zero for both the 19th and 20th. On the 19th, the 2QNL is within OB Limits and on the 19th, the KNF still has a physical room left in inventory => but because the Property Availability is at 0, the clerk cannot complete the booking without further overbooking the property:
